Roy Del Ruth enjoyed a long career in \nHollywood starting as a writer in 1915 and he would shift to producing \nand directing by the end of that decade. By the 1930s he was working \nwith some of the biggest names on the silver screen. With news of Babe \nRuth’s failing health hitting newspapers in 1948 a movie about his life \nwas rushed into production and Del Ruth signed on as director. Babe \nspent a lot of time on set and took part in the production even though \nsignificant liberties were taken with regard to historical accuracy.
